Why DMSO free?
DMSO is a supplement in freezing media to avoid formation of ice crystals, which harm the cells. However, DMSO is cytotoxic and reduces the survival rate of sensitive cell lines. Bambanker™ DMSO Free composition is without DMSO still avoiding the formation of ice crystals, making Bambanker™ DMSO Free especially suitable for cell lines that react sensitive to DMSO.
Why Serum free?
As all Bambanker™ cryopreservation media, Bambanker™ DMSO Free contains no serum. Freezing media which contain sera have the disadvantage of a fluctuating and not defined composition. Reproducibility of experiments with cells which were stored in a serum containing medium, could be affected by the usage of a different charge of the corresponding medium, since the composition of serum varies from batch to batch and only a limited amount of each batch is available. This leads often to the problem that experiments are no more reproducible because the corresponding medium is not longer available. The exactly defined composition of every ingredient of Bambanker™ DMSO Free has the enormous advantage that there is no dependency on a respective charge.
The following cell lines have successfully been frozen with Bambanker DMSO-free:
1. Jurkat (Floating cells)
2. PC12 (Adrenal Pheochromocytoma, Rat) (Adhesive cells)
3. HepG2 (Adhesive cells)
4. Hela S3 (Epithelioid Carcinoma, Cervix, Human)(Adhesive cells)
5. HEK293T (Transformed Primary Embryonal Kidney, Human)(Adhesive cells)
6. OKT4 (Floating cells)
7. Vero P4 (Kidney, African Green Monkey(Adhesive cells)
8. MDCK (Kidney, Canine)(Adhesive cells)
9. NIH3T3 (Embryonic Fibroblast, Mouse)(Adhesive cells)
